Love isn’t love

Today many people will be celebrating the love of their life.  Love is a word thrown around, in my opinion, way too much in this day and age.  What is love?  If you go to Sacred Scripture, it tells you in a very simple sentence, God is Love.  We are all His children and He loves us unconditionally.  We are called to love one another just as He loves us, but how do we do that?

Love isn’t love until it is given away.  Love is not self-centered, but is found in the giving of ourselves to those around us.  We must put the needs of others before our own.  This does not mean not taking care of ourselves, but it is looking out for the good of those around us and seeking what is best for them.  How can we seek the best for those around us?  It is by getting our noses out of our electronics and spending the time needed to truly know the heart of the other.  My prayer for today is each heart may be open and willing to be shared with those around us.  God bless.
